No Waiting
Heading back into the city, the day done.
Traffic backing up, even if it’s only just after 4.
Clouds darkening. Sky rolling up.
Lakeshore Drive. Swing onto E. McFetridge. Hey…a monument.
Let me check it out.
Maybe hanging out with David Bowman got me thinking about bleakness. The pallid soul of the midwest.
The quiet.

Come this fall and winter, when the wind whips off the lake and the snow begins to fall, when #54 lines up and buckles the chin strap, more that 61,000 will fill the air with their lusty screams.
But on July 16, it was me, my 20D and a concept.
And the quiet.
I’ll take it.
Yeah, Chicago ain’t done yet. More to come. Hang with me if you want….
PS: Above image: f/5.6 at 17mm, ISO 100, EV flat-lined at dead red 0. Finished with a cross-process Nik filter. I finished this three ways (above, more contrast, and a B&W version).
Above is the one that I had in my head when I shot it.

Good composition. Good color.
Wow Mark, looks like something just waiting to happen and feels like it will be waiting a long time. Just waiting.
