From The Archives: Lonesome Night
Those gas prices give away the age of photo a little. I don’t know what it’s like where you are, but prices here in New Jersey are about a good dollar – at least – more now.
I shot this about six months after Olivia was born. It was a warm Fall evening, I was listening to Springsteen’s new tracks on Magic, trying to get home to kiss Liv goodnight.
For some reason, that album gets my creative juices flowing. Know how some athletes listen to certain songs to get pumped up before a big game? I listen to Magic if I’m headed to a shoot or something like that. From the opening chords of Radio Nowhere, it just does it for me (though this acoustic cover of Radio Nowhere, by Italian Daniele Groff, is superb.)
The warm night, the music, the fog…it’s not a perfect shot but it came together here, in a Hopper-esque kinda way.
