Everybody needs a little foldin’ money.
It’s the type of cabbage that gets things done.
People sit up and take notice.
Their tone lightens. Their eyes spark.
I ain’t talkin no C notes and such.
Too hard to move. Too obvious.
Stack of Stonewalls and you’re good to go.
You want to do some business?
Foldin’ money gets it done.
Help a buddy out?
Foldin’ money will help.
You want to have some fun?
Foldin’ money is the way to go.
Best part is, Uncle Sam don’t see no foldin’ money.
Can’t take it with you when you go.
Meanwhile, it sure gets things done.

Tip of the fedora to an old country/rockabilly singer Carl Belew for the inspiration on this one. A Texas singer/songwriter, Radney Foster, also has a song with this title, but it was Belew’s version that first gave me the inspiration when I heard it in a Bibliodiscoteque podcast bout James Ellroy.
