I had another post planned for today….It can certainly wait till tomorrow.

Irving Penn. Iconoclast. Master. Genius. Photographer.

June 16, 1917 – October 7, 2009.

As Zack said…We photographers humbly walk on your shoulders. Thank you.. I’ll discretely add…amature, enthusiast, pro alike. We’ve all seen your work.

And we want to do what you did.

Somehow.

Thanks.

And now put the camera down. Rest.

Classic Irving Penn photos.

  1. In the last decade we have lost many masters. It probably has to do with the time during the last century when photography came of age. This weekend I’ll be in NYC going to see the Robert Frank show. There’s a connection there, but as I try to write the words to describe that connection, I am humbled by looking at Mr. Penn’s work.
