Misty Like Sunday Morning

On this late Sunday afternoon, thought I’d share a few images I shot this morning. After a brilliant day here in the great state of New Jersey yesterday, Sunday dawned wet, chilly and misty. As I was walking my dogs through the nearby park, everything was looking like new spring and lush.

Got back, told my wife I was headed out for bagels, grabbed the camera, and made a few clicks before hitting the bagel shop.

I have this slight fascination with beaded water on foliage. There was plenty in the park to keep my attention. And know that Josh and Jeff were out in the wilds of Texas, and Ray and Sabrina recently shooting some flowers of their own, I had to step up.

This one took about, oh, 10 seconds. Out of the camera, into RAW processing (did nothing), opened up Nik Silver and used the Underexposed filter. Liked it just like that.

Nik Silver is what I use 99% of the time to do B&W conversions. Just love it for all the possibilities.

As much as I like some of these conversions, sometime a splash of color, like a splash of cranberry in the vodka, is a good thing too.

Rather than cursing a gray day, I went with it.

And it’s always good to have friends somewhere…. out there…. pushing you as well…

  1. Lovely Mark. I especially like #2 and #4. That Nik Software sure is nice. I ordered it last week and will be able to experiment with it soon.

Thanks for the inspiration. It just keeps going around 🙂

  2. Grey Days rock! Nice shots.

Next, bring out a flash with you for some highlites or a little fill or something. It’ll rock your world. Orange gel? you betcha. Light blue gel! Oh man, getting crazy.
