Nature Calls
“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul.” ~ John Muir
I haven’t been doing much nature/landscape photography lately. Been leaving that to the pros, like Jeff Lynch and Josh Bradley. Next week, Jeff is leading a landscape photo workshop/safari down in the Texas Hill Country and Josh is ready to tag along. He bought a new cowboy hat and boots and everything so he’s ready to go.
Giddy up!
Jeff’s a heck of a teacher and both are great shooters so I’m looking forward to seeing the beautiful images they bring back.
I thought I’d share this image today, on Earth Day. Shot it a couple of years ago with the 20D on the drive home from work. It was one of those “Geez I better pull over and snap off a few frames” type of shots. Everyone wants to travel the word – and don’t get me wrong, it’s great – but sometimes the beauty in our lives right outside our front door. Or pretty close to it anyway.
Just ask John Muir. Yesterday was his birthday. I read a bit about Muir when I lived in San Francisco and got to know some of the areas and trails he loved so much. If you ever get the chance to see a redwood tree up close – do so. Amazing.
So, in the spirit of Earth Day and John Muir, get out there and enjoy nature this weekend.
Nature is calling….
