A Love Affair With The Twin Towers

This post is an invitation to go read the interview that my buddy, Joe McNally, did over at Scott Kelby’s Blog about his love affair with the Twin Towers and more about his Faces of Ground Zero project.

While not included in the FGZ project, one of my all-time favorite – and poignant photos- that Joe shot was the one above. Then NY Mets-catcher, Mike Piazza, sits on a rooftop just five days after the Twin Tower fell. The plums of smoke in the upper right-hand corner come from Ground Zero. Even gone, their presence is felt.

Mike grew up outside of Philadelphia, and played many years in Los Angeles, but he was fan favorite while with the Mets, both because of his work behind the plate and for just being part of the community.

When I think of post-9/11, my mind always go back to this photo…
