JSP At The New York Photo Festival: Sandy
Yesterday, I received some pretty nice news. Five images that I sumbitted to the New York Photo Festival: SANDY: Devastation, Drive, Document were selected for inclusion.
Frankly, I’m humbled. There were so many fantastic images that documented the path of destruction that Hurricane Sandy wrought, I’m sure the selection committee wasn’t at a loss. To have these five be part of the overall program….I’m honored.
Unfortunately, I doubt I’ll get over to The Powerhouse Arena in Brooklyn to see the exhibition before it ends on March 1. If anyone gets over to the exhibition, I’d love to hear how it looks. Seems like a very cool space. Take some snaps!
Also cool…Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit artists receiving funds through the New York Foundation for the Arts Emergency Relief Fund.
And…a big thank you to Adorama Pix. The great gang over at Adorama printed the exhibition’s 1000+ photographs. In the wake of Sandy, the Powerhouse Arena suffered damage caused by 28” of water that entered our space and shattered our doors during the surge. It is our goal to replicate this flood line by displaying a 28” swatch of photographs depicting Sandy and the rebirth after the storm.
I’m a big fan of Adorama. They do a great job with my photo books and prints. This shows they have a pretty big heart, too.
There’s is some really compelling work in the exhibit. You can view a slideshow here.
Congratulations to all the photographers whose work was selected for this noteworthy exhibition. I’m proud to be part of it.
