The Colors of Cape Town

It’s Saturday night here in Cape Town. Decide to forgo dinner out with the team for a quieter night at the hotel.

I’ve been here a week now and we’ve been running and gunning pretty hard. Add to that early call times, long times outdoors, especially in the sun, working with the talent, eating different food, well, we’ve all been out of sorts lately.

So, tonight, I opted for dinner in the hotel while processing some images and watching the Super Rugby tournament that’s on. Rugby – very big here in Cape Town.

Also very big here – Color. Not since my travels to India do I see such fantastic splashes of color everywhere.

Whatever is on the ground is offset by the brilliance of the sky and some high clouds.

Yellow is predominant. Then deeps shades of red. All against the magnificent blue of the Cape Town sky.

Sometimes it all comes together, and you can’t a cornucopia of visual interestingness. The car was vintage. So was the driver.

And that’s just during the daytime hours. Come evening…well, that’s pretty brilliants as well.

Still a few more days here in The Mother City. More to come.

Go Springboks!
