Feeling The Bern
I don’t do politics on this blog. I have neither the time nor the inclination to get into all that.
But the circus and the gravitas that is this year’s political scene is hard to miss. It’s gone from the sublime to the absurd.
Twice in the past week I’ve been pulled into political conversations that were difficult to extract myself out of. One happened when I walked into a local jewelry store to get a new watch battery.
Due to the merchandise, the outerwear of the proprietor, and the condition of the shop, I thought I had stepped back into 1972. Then I saw saw a yellowed newspaper sticking out from under a pile of other “stuff” behind the counter.
Saw the word “Nazis” in a headline.
1942 perhaps?
Geez, I wanted to dart behind the desk and just see what that was all about.
Last weekend, while down in Asbury Park, I grabbed a couple of quick documentary-style shots of this Bernie Sanders supporter with the Fuji X100T.
Glad I watched that John Oliver piece or I wouldn’t have gotten the Drumpf reference.
I spoke with this guy for a bit. He wanted to sign this petition and that petition.
Second time in a week I turned down signing any sort of petition for anyone. Luckily, my boys were tugging at my coat to keep moving along.
Gravitas has gone out the window, I think.
The circus is in town.
Bring on the clowns.

Seems like politics has away of pulling out the ugliness in our hearts. But you found a way to turn it into a photography opportunity.
I share your disdain for the way the political discourse has been conducted so far. I fear it will not improve.
