BTS: Back To School
My kids went back to school this week. As they were getting ready (and I was getting ready for the traditional Back-To-School photos), I noticed just how wide Olivia’s profile was.
The backpack on her small frame seemed crazy big to me. I had a quick thought to do a not-the-norm-back-to-school photo.
I quickly went into my garage studio and set up my stands. Rather than my black, white, or gray backgrounds, I opted to go with a red Elmer’s Tri-Fold Display board that I picked up at a local crafts store.
Once I was all set up, I had Liv come out, and enlisted her brother Chase to hold the yardstick.
Took some doing to get Chase to hold the yardstick straight but we got there. And to Liv’s credit, she gave me a good face for the “final” image.
Shot the images with my Fuji X100T and did do some contrast/saturation in post-production, and some cropping as well.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive, portable background, pick up some of the tri-folds. They come in different colors and can help you get a different look on location…or in your own garage studio!
Behind The Scenes AND Back To School! Heh!
