JSP Visual Week In Review ~ 10.13.18
It’s certainly starting to feel like Fall around here. Temps have dropped the last few days, though not getting a lot of leaf-changing yet.
But last weekend we had our Photowalk, and this weekend it’s our town’s Fall Festival, sure signs autumn is here.
I’m still pining abit for summer. Matt and I went down to Asbury Park last weekend, a little Dad/Son day while the other two were out with my wife. We walked around the AP Punk Rock Flea Market, played on the beach playground for a bit (well, he did) then came back for some past fagioli soup and pizza from our local pizza joint. Many conversations about possible Halloween costumes were had – it’s a big decision.
The rest of the week was an odd one. My wife had to hop a flight down to Florida on Monday to help out with a family emergency. I held down the household – making lunches, getting kids on the bus, being here when they got back, shuttling them back and forth (Thursday are super busy for that.)
Things in hand, Leslie came back yesterday. She was tired, house was still standing.
Another week in the books.
This Weeks Links:
What I Listened To This Week: Tommy Conwell & The Young Rumblers (long story about this Philly band – I got into a private message conversation on IG with a pro photographer I know. Turns out, he lived in Philly the same time I did (1988-1998 timeframe) and now his son is looking at going to La Salle, where I went. His wife’s uncle is a Christian Brother at the school, whom I knew well. I used to listen to TC when I at school there, and had to revisit them.
What I Watched This Week: Teen Wolf (with the kids, last night)
What I’m Reading This Week: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (200th anniversary!)
Worst Headline of the Week: This Forgotten Street Photographer Shot Some of Our Most Iconic Images – I wouldn’t say Garry Winogrand is forgotten.
The incredible history and craftsmanship behind architecture’s most famous photographs. (Julius Shulman had a birthday this week, so I was reading up on him.)
“I’m not modest about myself. I know for a fact that I am good. But good in the sense that I can put things together. A photograph is a design in which you assemble thoughts in your mind.” ~ Julius Shulman
