Happy 4th of July!
There’s just something about the 4th of July that I love.
I’m not even a big fireworks guy – I don’t like the crowds, they scare my dogs.
But the day itself exemplifies summer to me.
So, I hope to get out and enjoy the day today.
This is one of my favorite American Flag images.
I shot it on July 4, 2003, when my not-my-wife-just-yet and I were living in San Francisco. We took an evening Blue & Gold Fleet cruise around San Francisco Bay and watched the fireworks from there.
I had my little 4 mp Canon A80 camera with me. It was cold as hell out on the water.
But we had a good time.
A year later – possibly the worst year of my life because of the job I had – she would be my wife and we’d be driving through Montana on the 4th of July, heading back to New Jersey and a new job that awaited me.
Next year, remind me to post one of my other favorite 4th of July photos.
Happy Birthday, America!
