JSP Visual Week In Review ~ 06.26.21

“We had it once, Joe, we just don’t got it no more.” ~ Bruce Springsteen, Downbound Train

Well, today is the day.

I’ve been teasing about “changes” coming these last few weeks.

One of the biggest ones is happening later today.

My wife and I are separating and I’m moving into a new place about 30 minutes away.

This has been a few months in doing, a few years in the making.

There’s no acrimony, no fighting, no infidelity.

Just two people who, after 20 years together, just have drifted apart in many of thoughts and beliefs.

It’ll be a change, for sure. And one I hope is for the better for both of us. I still care for Leslie and want her to be happy.

Of course, it’s a big change for Olivia, Chase and Matt, too. Above everything, we’ll continue to parent them in the same way we’ve been doing. At least that has gone right, because they are really good kids.

Between all the pandemic stuff, my dad passing in early May, and all this, it’s been a tough Spring. For all of us.

Despite all this, it was a great week: My mom came to visit us here in NJ for the first in time about six year, my daughter graduated middle school, Chase’s All-Star team won a championship (Matt’s team, though a late rally, got knocked out of their tourney), and I ate a pierogi omelette (which was lame).

And I saw a pretty cool moon over my favorite farm.

And, so, a new road awaits all of us. Beuford is packed now, ready to make the drive to Lawrenceville. Going to miss my little corner of Monmouth County but I’ll be back often. A little further from Asbury Park, too, but the truck already knows the way.

I’m starting a Summer Things To Do list….I’ll have more time on my hands to do some of it. And my annual Summer Reading List is coming, too.

Hang with me. It’ll be ok. New paths await. As one of my favorite movie characters, Cliff Booth, says in Once Upon A Time In HollywoodAnd away we go

“That’s my technique with people. I’m sort of a fly on the wall. You try not to interfere, hang around, hope that they don’t even notice you, and if they do, they don’t care.” ~ John Dominis (June 27, 1921 – December 30, 2013)

  1. I recently read a quote that you may feel is appropriate to your situation…’some things have to end for better things to begin’. I hope you all find happiness in your road ahead Mark.
