JSP Visual Week in Review ~ 07.24.21

With everything going on in my life as of late, I guess I should expect weeks like this.

Weeks that are, well, pretty low.

Last weekend, I shot a music festival in Annapolis, Maryland. Had a good time, met a lot of good people.

But, frankly, I wasn’t happy with a lot of my work. And that sucks because I was paid to be there.

I’m not saying client won’t like them. I’ve finished and delivered the files to them so the book is basically closed.

But I’m not happy with them.

And those editing sessions dropped me down a bit. Then, it was just a bit of a slippery slope from there.

I came home from the  festival with a pretty-close-to-if-not sinus infection -the first time I’ve been sick since mid-winter 2019.

I didn’t do any fitness this week. My sleep was off. Hardly hungry. Really didn’t shoot anything.

On a scale of 1 to 10, all things considered, this was about a 3.5/4.

But, the thing about having a bad day or a bad week is there’s a new one ready to get started to help you turn things around.

One good thing this week is I sent out a print to a friend in Alaska….and it made her very happy.

Maybe that alone moves the needle to 4.5 for the week.

“Good photography, or any other manifestation in man, comes from a state of grace. Grace comes when you are delivered from conventions, obligations, conveniences, competition, and you are free, like a child in his first discovery of reality. You walk around in surprise, seeing reality as if for the first time.” ~ Sergio Larrain

  1. This past week (and many months) has been challenging for many people. You have high expectations and things just did not meet your expectations. You’ve recognized that and have not given up. You recognized the small achievements and keep moving forward. You can run on adrenaline for just so long when the situations demands and when the adrenaline stops, you feel absolutely spent. (This was my world this week.) Meanwhile, we adjust to the changing situations, continue to press forward and things get better. I expect this is just a little low spot for you that you’ll quickly put behind you.
