Moment On The Mound
I like this shot I grabbed last weekend.
Matt (looking forward) is 17 months younger than Chase (number 5). They started the Fall Ball season on two different A’s teams, but some circumstances have brought Matt up to Chase’s team.
He holds his own quite well for being younger than the others. To the point where the coach has no qualms with putting him on the mound….when older brother Chase isn’t pitching.
Here, Matt’s just been given the ball in relief. Chase is playing first base (note the unique first baseman’s glove) and is doing a little landscaping with his spikes near the pitching rubber.
Levi’s the catcher, giving Matt a tap of encouragement.
Matt’s all business.
And he was. Gave up a couple of hits, but set down 12 batters to end the game and send the A’s on to a big win.
Playoffs start on Saturday.
