JSP Visual Week In Review ~ 12.24.22

“So the shortest day came, and the year died, And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world

Came people singing, dancing, To drive the dark away.”

From “The Shortest Day” by Susan Cooper

We’re getting there, folks. We’re not there yet, but 2022 is winding down.

We crossed the shortest day of the year off the list this week. And now we head to summer.

Well, yes, but no.

I’m a ready for a quiet week of little to no work.

Me and kids will spend a few days together (they are with their mom tonight – first time in more than 20 years I won’t be with family on Christmas Eve – I’ll see them early tomorrow.)

But it’s that quiet time of the year.

A time to take stock.

Figure out what I want to bring with me into the new year, and what I want to leave behind.

We’ll take what we can carryYeah, and we’ll leave the rest

But first…

Time to wrap presents and watch It’s A Wonderful Life

This Week’s Links:

What I’m Reading This Week: I finished White Out by Dana King. His books are Clancy-exciting but they are solid and true-to-life. I just really like them. Also finished Hopper’s Places. Continuing on with Shadow Of The Condor, on the fiction side, and Fen, Bog & Swamp by Annie Proulx, Discipline is Destiny by Ryan Holiday and Growing Up Underground: A Memoir of Counterculture New York by Steven Heller.

What I Watched This Week: Blast of Silence, my favorite Christmas Noir. Also, a very talky Metropolitan.

In A Word (watch): Francis Ford Coppola Breaks Down His Most Iconic Films. It’s a 30 minute watch but at the end, he talks about how he chooses a single word to keep him on track.
