JSP Visual Week In Review ~ 01.07.23
OK, we all good?
We made it through that first week of the new year without too much trouble?
Happy to say I’ve had a quite a productive week, though it wasn’t without it’s downs to even out the ups.
I went to a gig in Asbury Park on Thursday evening (It was to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the release of Springsteen’s Greetings From Asbury Park album, more to watch friends perform their covers of songs from the album than to “shoot the who>
But, of course, I took my Canon 5DMIV…and had all kinds of focus issues with the lens.
Good thing it wasn’t a paid shoot, or anyone was expecting photos!
(I did also have my Fuji XT3 with me, so got some snaps.)
Hey, that’s what happens. Can’t plan on this sometimes, just gotta role with it, right?
You can only change what you can, right? Can’t sweat it if you can’t.
No use to it.
Otherwise, it was a good week. One morning it was so foggy on my walk, I couldn’t stop taking photos.
That upper middle square was just one of many. But it was such a beautiful morning, it felt good to be out in it.
There’s the lesson….get out into it!
This Week’s Links:
What I’m Reading This Week: Still working on As Time Goes By. Also, and also a crime procedural novel from Lawrence Sanders, The Timothy Files. I’ve also wanted to try to read more poetry, which I’ve never enjoyed. But I’ve been reading The Collected Works of Philip Larkin and am really enjoying it.
What I Watched This Week: The Menu
Watch: Unless You Learn To See….Ernst Hass Shows You How
Listen: The Photowalk featuring street photographer Reuben Radding
In Another Time: Timeless Portraits of LA Arcades
Poppin: Iggy Pop Isn’t About To Whitewash His Past
ABW (Always Be Writing): Some good tips here on writing from Jerry Seinfeld. I’ll amend this to be ABC – Always Be Creating – something I need to do more of in 2023, be it shooting, writing, journaling (kinda loathe that term but yeah), inviting opportunities in.
From the JSP Archives: From January 8, 2015, NEPA At Night
“Consistency is a super power!” ~ Can’t remember where I heard that this week but that’s the thing – put the work in, every day. Even if it’s a small thing. Do 10 push ups. Every day. Walk a mile. Every day. Take 10 photos Every day. Read. Every day. Every day starts to add in a big way.
