Lucinda Williams At The Count Basie
Back on October 29, on a misty, autumn evening, I had the opportunity to check out – and shoot – a wonderful evening of music and storytelling from the iconic Lucinda Williams at the Count Basie Theater, in Red Bank, New Jersey.
Backed by her Buick 6 Band, and clad in her spikey leather jacket and The Runaways t-shirt, the Grammy-award winner gave the packed Count Basie theater crowd an evening of long-ago remembrances, coming up in the business, and insights into many of the great folks she’s worked with.
Photos were commissioned by the Letters To You website and a fantastic review of the show by writer Lisa Iannucci accompany my images.
This was about three years in the making. I was to shoot Lucinda at the 2020 Asbury Park Music and Film Festival, which was to haven taken place in April…but we all know what happened in March of that year, causing the cancellation of the event.
A great night of music and storytelling. It was very cool to have the chance to photograph Lucinda at the historic Count Basie.
