Play Ball!

“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.”

–Terrence Mann – Field of Dreams

And so, the season stars anew.

We’ve left the cold winter behind us, Easter is in the rear view and now it’s time for the spring and summer soundtrack to start.

Two beautiful words: Opening Day!

Yep, baseball is back.

If you’ve been following this little smidge of the Internet, you probably know I’m a Philadelphia Phillies fan.

If you listen to the pundits, there won’t be much joy in the City of Brotherly Love this year.

But still, I’ll be watching baseball. Or at least it’ll be on the background.

I live close enough to both Philly and New York that I get both sets of TV stations. So, Phillies, Yankees, Mets…I’ll give a look in to all of them.

To commemorate Opening Day, here’s a collection of some of my favorite baseball-themed photos.

And finally…this is my son Chase’s first baseball glove. Just picked it up on Saturday for the start of his t-ball season. Even this 3-5 year old model seems big on his hand, but I guess he’ll grow into it.

And maybe become a second baseman just like his dear old Dad was…
